Why do they say that black dogs have a harder time being adopted?

Cookie On My Mind asked: I’ve been reading a few sites RE: pet adoptions and many sites have said that black dogs have a hard time getting adopted versus light colored dogs. Now, as a black lab lover, I find this hard to believe! Wonder why they say that?
